Ghana re-elected for UNESCO Executive Board

Accra, Oct.13, GNA-Ghana has been elected for the fifth consecutive time to serve on the 58-member Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at its 32nd General Conference held in Paris.

Ghana would be in the administrative echelons of the organization for the next four years.

A statement from the Ghana National Commission for UNESCO on Monday said the Board, which is the highest governing body of UNESCO implements all its programmes and activities.

It said Ghana was also selected to host the cluster office that served Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, Benin and Nigeria. Ghana has also been selected as the center for the Organization's Distance Education Programme for the Anglophone countries in West Africa.

Professor Albert Owusu-Sarpong, Ghana's Ambassador to France and permanent Delegate to UNESCO lead Ghana's delegation to the General Conference.
