President John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of national mourning following the passing of former First Lady, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
The mourning period, which begins on Friday, October 24, and ends on Sunday, October 26, 2025, is to honour the memory of the late former First Lady and recognise her distinguished service to Ghana.
A statement issued by the government on Thursday, October 24, 2025, directed that all national flags be flown at half-mast at public buildings, diplomatic missions, and government installations across the country and abroad.

“During this period, all national flags shall fly at half-mast at all public buildings, diplomatic missions, and government installations throughout the country and abroad,” the statement said.
According to the release, the declaration is in tribute to the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’s lifelong dedication to women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development.
“The Government of Ghana extends its deepest condolences to her family, her children, and all who mourn this irreplaceable loss,” it added.
The late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings and served as First Lady from 1981 to 2001.
