Government creating artificial dumsor – MP claims

The Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North Constituency in the Volta Region, John Kwabena Oti Bless, has accused the Akufo-Addo-led government of creating artificial power crisis in the country.

According him, the John Mahama administration fixed the electricity crisis before handing over the governance of the country to the current administration, claiming the recent power shows the government has run down the main power distributor, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Recent intermittent power outages in parts of the country has created the impressions that the Mahama government could not solve the power crisis as it claimed.

The Energy Ministry attributed the outages to the tie-in of TEN-gas to the Atuabo processing plant as well as the shutdown of the Ghana National Gas Company for mandatory maintenance work, which delayed for by six days. It said the Ghana owes Cote d’Ivoire 600 million dollars in power supply. Reacting to the issue on Onua FM’s Ghana Dadwene on Tuesday, Mr. Oti Bless explained that former President John Mahama fixed the challenge facing the sector before handing the country to the current administration.

He claimed the government is just creating artificial power outage in the country to give reasons for the ECG, Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) and Volta River Authority (VRA) to be sold. “There was no dumsor before we handed over so the current dumsor shows their [NPP] incapability.

They cannot rule the country”, the MP noted. The NDC MP said the NPP promised like magicians claiming to “change the fortunes of the nation overnight but look at the energy situation and dollar rate against the cedi”.
