The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, has issued a word of caution to members of the party and appointees of the ruling government.
Addressing a gathering at a yet-to-be-identified event in a video shared on Facebook on June 16, 2025, Fiifi Kwetey cautioned members whose sole motive is to create and amass wealth during their time in government to desist from doing so.
According to him, anyone who harbors such motives is not meant to be a member of the NDC but the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing the party’s zero tolerance for corruption and its commitment to maintaining integrity.
“I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having a property, but I'm saying if your motive and your reason for being a member of this party is what you can get, then you are in the wrong party. Look for the NPP, that is your party,” he said.
The politician also went on to bemoan how some individuals, after gaining power and the opportunity to serve, rush to illegally amass wealth within a short period, prioritising their selfish interest over the country’s welfare.
He reiterated his strong disapproval of such practices occurring under the NDC’s regime and government, cautioning members to desist from such actions.
“You need to understand who we are. They are in a hurry to own world properties that people have worked for 30 years and they don't have. In a hurry to drive vehicles that people who have worked as ministers they don't have. They think by joining this party, they get an opportunity to be able to make something for themselves,” he added.
