The allowance of Ghana Police Service personnel on peacekeeping duties abroad has been increased from US$30 to US$35 per day, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced.

Mr Akufo-Addo made the revelation while delivering his speech at the 62nd Independence Day Anniversary parade held in Tamale in the Northern Region on Wednesday, 6 March 2019.

He stated: “I’m pleased to announce, like our armed forces who serve with distinction on peacekeeping duties, members of the police service who represent us abroad have also seen their daily allowances increased from 30 to 35 United States dollars.”

Mr Akufo-Addo also used the occasion to congratulate the 2018 UN Female Police Officer of the year, Chief Superintendent Phyllis Osei, on her achievement.

Chief Superintendent Osei is the first Ghanaian female to ever win the award.
