The 63rd Independence Day Anniversary Planning Committee has said all is set for the event to take place on Friday, 6th March, 2020 at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.

Chairman of the committee, Mr Lord Oblittey Commey, said though renovation exercise which is taking place at the venue has not been completed, organisers are ready for the occasion.

He said the special guest for the occasion, who is the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Keith Rowley, has already arrived in the country.

The stadium was being decorated when Class News’ Elisha Adarkwa accompanied the committee to tour the venue.

The nation's flags have not only been erected at the corners of the stadium alone but some streets of the regional capital, Kumasi.

Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, who is a member of the committee also said tight security measures have been put in place.

The theme for this year’s Independence Day celebration is "Consolidating Our Gains".

Sixth of March every year is Ghana's National Day and commemorates Ghana's independence from the United Kingdom in 1957.
