The Myth Surrounding Kpando Heart Of Lions

A microscopic scrutiny of the just-ended first round of the 2003 Premier League season by your authoritative Sports Desk of Space 87.7 has revealed an interesting, but potent arithmetic progression on the part of Kpando Heart of Lions, likely to lead one to draw various conclusions. Indeed, a critical examination of the first round has revealed that any team that defeats Heart Of Lions in an away encounter looses the two subsequent matches.

It all started at the Kumasi Sports Stadium in the opening game of the 2003 Kinapharma Premier League when King Faisals gave Lions baptism of fire by beating them by 4-1. The Nokia lads, thereafter lost two successive to Berekum Arsenals and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

In week 5, Lions again were pipped 1-0 by Okwawu United at the Accra Sports Stadium and afterwards, Okwahu lost 1-0 each to Berekum Arsenals and Tano Bofoakwa, as their match against Kotoko had been declared outstanding.

No nonsense Berekum Arsenal was the next team to tame the Lions at the Berekum Coronation Park. The Berekum lads who have been in superb form, had to surrender their home invincibility by succumbing to a painful 0-1 loss to Koforidua-based Power F/C and subsequently to Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

Tano Bofoakwa were the next victims, after whipping the Kpando boys only to face the wrath of this painful but interesting arithmetic progression, loosing the usual two matches on the trot, to local rivals,Berekum Arsenal and fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The scientific soccer lads, Liberty Professionals, with all their scientific background could not stand the myth surrounding the Lions from Kpando. They beat Heart of Lions by 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium and the aftermath was the two ignominious defeats at the hands of Arsenal and Kotoko in the 13th and 14th weeks respectively.

Now, the pride of the north, Real Tamale United also mesmerized Heart Of Lions 4-1 at Bolga in the 14th week and as usual, they lost to Berekum Arsenal in the 15th week.

The multi-million dollar question now is RTU can afford to loose their 16th week match against Arsenal at their favourite home soil-Bolga to obey this arithmetic progression or win to defy it?
