The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully contained a massive fire outbreak that destroyed two warehouses at 34 Spintex Main Road, opposite Takyi Plaza in Accra on the night of Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

According to a GNFS statement dated October 15, 2025, the distress call was received at 8:04 pm, and the first appliance from the Kasapreko Fire Station arrived at the scene at 8:08 pm.

Reinforcements were later dispatched from the Nungua, Tema Metro, Headquarters, Trade Fair, and Motorway Fire Stations, as well as the Ghana Armed Forces Fire Unit to contain the fire.

Four private water tankers also supported the firefighting efforts.

Warehouse fire at Adabraka contained – GNFS

The fire was contained and completely extinguished at 3:07 am on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The Director of Operations, DCFO Roberta Aggrey-Ghanson, who led the response team, commended the firefighters and supporting agencies for their swift intervention.

“Our personnel worked tirelessly through the night to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby properties, and their professionalism and teamwork ensured that adjoining structures were saved,” the statement said.

A nearby three-storey showroom and adjoining structures were successfully protected from the blaze.

One firefighter, however, sustained injuries during the operation and is receiving treatment at the Police Hospital in Accra.

The GNFS expressed appreciation to all supporting agencies for their collaboration and assured that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
