An amount of GH¢60 million has been envisaged by the management of Komfo AnokyeTeaching Hospital (KATH) to assist in retooling the facility as part of a determination course of providing quality healthcare delivery.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of KATH, Dr Oheneba Owusu-Danso explained that this will help the management to respond and deal with normal and emergency cases more efficiently from Ashanti, Western and Brong Ahafo Regions

Addressing journalists in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi at an end of year media interaction session, the CEO stated the importance of getting the right equipment and the decision to set up an endowment fund for the second premier hospital in the country.

According to Dr Oheneba Owusu-Danso, more of the equipment and tools at the hospital have become obsolete posing challenges to quality healthcare delivery.

“It does not augur well for a hospital as big as KATH which daily attends to emergency and referral cases from across the country and others adjoining West African countries to lack some basic essentials”, the CEO bemoaned

Among other challenges mentioned are lack of beds at the facility compelling them to turn away some patients who come to the facility.

Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso, therefore, revealed funds from the public and other stakeholders will be used to procure the moderns for the hospital.
