GJA congratulates Black Stars

Accra, June 18, GNA - The Ghana Journalists Association has sent a message to congratulate the national soccer team the Black Stars, on their miraculous victory over the Czech Republic, in their match at the on-going World Cup in Germany.

"The Black Stars' demolition of their Czech counterparts, who by current FIFA ratings are regarded the second best national soccer team in the world after Brazil, demonstrates the prowess of Africa soccer."

GJA said Saturday's victory by the Black Stars will no doubt uplift the spirit of African teams at the tournament, but beyond that, rekindle Ghana's soccer aspirations and tradition.

A statement signed by Bright Blewu, GJA General Secretary said, "under normal circumstances, the GJA refrains from commenting on issues that have no direct bearing on journalism or media development. However, it will not allow this historic moment in Ghana's soccer history to pass it by.

"As the whole nation celebrates this great victory, that has made all Africa proud, we wish to call on all churches and other religious groups in the country to continue to remember the Black Stars in their prayers, and to thank God for his blessing and the development of African soccer". GJA wish the whole Africa and Ghana in particular well in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
