A former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North and immediate past Executive Director of the Accra Digital Centre, Kwadwo Baah Agyeman, has cautioned poling station executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against voting for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong as the party’s next flagbearer.
The party risk an even bitter and devastating defeat should Kennedy Agyepong be elected to lead the party in the. 2028 general elections .
According to him, though Kennedy Agyapong is his close associate, he does not possess the temperament and qualities required to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
“Kennedy Agyapong is my father. I helped him to establish Oman FM and the Kencity Media brand, but he’s not presidential material. How can you present somebody who has thrown out filthy vituperations against women and called his own party people fools, saying he doesn’t even know why he’s still with the NPP — and yet we vote for him as flagbearer to lead us? Ghanaians will not vote for him,” Kwadwo Baah Agyeman declared.
Assessing the chances of other potential candidates, Baah Agyeman noted that while he personally shares a strong friendship with Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for Abetifi and Minister for Agriculture, he does not believe Acheampong can secure victory for the NPP in 2028.
“Bryan Acheampong is my friend and a brother. We both slept in the same room — I even called him Yaw Okine . I know he’s been calling you through the former MCE. He even asked him to call me, saying there’s money at the mountains so let’s go fetch some. Why didn’t he call me when he was the MCE? The truth is, he’s from the Eastern Region, and our immediate past President is also from the Eastern Region. Ghanaians will not vote for him. This is not his time,” he stated.
Baah Agyeman therefore urged the constituency executives to rally solidly behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he described as the obvious choice to lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 general elections.
“We should not think twice in selecting Dr. Bawumia. All fingers point to him as the candidate Ghanaians will embrace, considering his enviable track record as Vice President. His demeanor, character, and humility put him far ahead of all other candidates who have shown interest in the flagbearership,” he emphasized.
Kwadwo Baah Agyeman made these remarks while addressing poling station Executives of the NPP in the Asante Akyem North Constituency as part of his engagements to discuss the party’s direction ahead of its next presidential primaries.
