Road construction designed to attract investors- Dr Anane

Tepa (Ash), Jan 7, GNA- Dr Richard Anane, the Minister of Roads and Highways, has said roads being constructed in some parts of the country were meant to attract investors.

Speaking at a fund-raising rally organised by the Ahafo-Ano North branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Tepa on Sunday, Dr Anane appealed to Ghanaians to sustain the freedom, peace and stability in the country now.

He said the government would soon introduce on the spot fine on drivers for traffic offences to ensure discipline on the roads and called on all road users, especially drivers and passengers, to support its implementation when it comes into force.

The Minister said the government has ordered more buses from China and the Netherlands to augment the current mass metro and intercity transport services.

Dr Anane said the 20-kilometre Akwasiase-Asuhyiae road had been awarded on contract for tarring and appealed to the chiefs and people to give the contractor the necessary assistance when work begins on it. Mr Kwame Frimpong, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, declared his intention to contest the parliamentary seat again and appealed to the electorate to dismiss rumours that he had no intention to contest.
