The Ministry of Finance has announced that preparations for the 2027 Budget are underway, with the Electoral Commission among the institutions taking part in the ongoing budget hearings.
In a post shared on the Ministry’s X page on Saturday, September 5, 2026, officials confirmed that the hearings are being held to allow government agencies to present their plans and funding needs ahead of the 2027 financial year.

The Electoral Commission’s participation marks another step in the process as government begins putting together its spending framework for next year.
The hearings form part of the wider work towards preparing the 2027 Budget for consideration by Cabinet and, subsequently, Parliament.
“Preparations are underway,” the finance ministry announced in its statement.
