Kufuor Promises Facelift for Volta Region

Major towns in the Volta Region, especially the capital Ho, will be modernized within the first four years of the NPP administration. J. A. Kuffour has said.

The Aflao-Tema Highway will also be rebuilt into a double carriage asphaulted road, he told an enthusiastic crowd of party supporters at Aflao.

Hear him: " When you elect me as president, you will be sure you have entrusted your power- the destiny of the land - into the hand of a man you trust and can depend on".

The NPP flagbearer said he is not asking for power in vain because for 20 long years the country has been under the rulership of one man and his government.

He went on " unfortunately for us within the 20 years the country has suffered such poverty and such fear as has never been known before"

"The truth is that Ghana has come to a crossroads in which the people are at a loss as to where they are heading".

Kufuor was not happy about the non-functioning of the economy, the unworkable education policies and the unaffordable health care.

He regretted the lack of genuine investment coming into the country, saying "because around the globe, good money does not change bad money, nobody will invest his dollar or pound sterling here only to incur losses within a year."

The presidential candidate, therefore, asked Ghanaians to work for a government that "will show concern for the citizenry; a government that will eschew corruption and a government that will not use money meant to build the nation into the private pockets of MPs, ministers and hangers-on of government, but use the money for good agricultural programmes, industry, trade and construction."

This way, he promised, the country will be rich because the people will also be rich.

"I can assure you I and my party have looked at the problems confronting the nation, we have done the arithmetic and if Ghanaians will give us the power we will work so that within four years, all of Ghana will say four years of Kufuor is much better that 20 years of PNDC/NDC mal-government.
