Newly sworn-in Supreme Court Judge, Justice Senyo Dzamefe, has shared his experiences on his journey to the bench of the apex court.

Addressing a gathering of senior government officials after his swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House on July 3, 2025, Justice Senyo Dzamefe reflected on his career journey, describing it as a long and challenging path for himself and some of his colleagues.

According to him, despite the many challenges they faced, the unwavering support from their families and loved ones sustained them and gave them hope that they would one day rise to the top, ultimately reaching the Supreme Court.

“To friends and families, especially our spouses and children, we have been with first through thick and thin. The journey for some of us up to today has been exceptionally long. But you never gave up on us. You kept encouraging us, praying for us, and supporting us. You have the faith and confidence that this day will arrive. Finally, it has arrived,” he said.

Justice Dzamefe also recounted how his children persistently looked forward to his elevation to the apex court, sharing that they would often ask him why his name was absent from the list of nominated Supreme Court judges.

In a heartfelt manner, he said the day had arrived, expressing his gratitude to his family.

“The dreadful questions that our children ask, ‘Daddy, this time too your name hasn't come on the list’, today it is over. To our children, our name has come now,” he added.

Justice Dzamefe assured Ghanaians of his commitment to uphold the law and deliver justice to all people regardless of status, adding that he will fulfill his mandate without fear.

“To the people of Ghana, we promise that we will dispense justice to all manner of people without fear or favor, ill will or affection. We also promise you equal justice and the law,” he concluded.

Justice Dzamefe and six other justices were sworn in by President John Dramani Mahama after they were approved by Parliament following a rigorous vetting process.
