A family of seven has been killed in a devastating fire at Akyempim in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), in a press release dated November 5, 2025, said the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, November 1, 2025.
According to the statement, the Dunkwa-On-Offin Fire Station received a distress call regarding the fire at 1:04 AM.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 1:20 AM to find one of the bedrooms in a four-bedroom house completely engulfed in flames and locked with a padlock from the outside.

The crew managed to contain the fire within minutes and prevented it from spreading to the remaining three bedrooms.
However, seven people, five children aged between one and 15, and two adults, were trapped inside the burning room and could not be rescued.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the husband of one of the deceased adults allegedly set the room on fire and locked it before fleeing.
Police later found the suspect dead in a nearby bush, where he is believed to have taken his own life.
The charred bodies of the victims were handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation.
The GNFS expressed condolences to the bereaved family and urged the public to remain vigilant and adhere to fire safety practices.
