2 Starlets Officials Thrown Out

THE QUESTIONABLE character of two Starlets officials Richard Asare, Team Manager and Laud Sewornu, Welfare Officer has attracted the disciplinary rod of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The two have been thrown out following gross indiscipline on the part of Sewornu, while Asare incurred the displeasure of the FA as a result of his dubious dealings with the playing body.

The Chairman of the Starlets Management Committee, Nana Budu The Chronicle Sports on telephone yesterday that the powers to dismiss officials from the team does not rest in his hands and that the two were shown the exit after presenting recommendations to the FA following rumours that ladies visited the camp of the team during the U-17 Africa Youth championship.

According to Nana, the two have been instrumental in the running of the U-17 side, having served for more than eight years but could not accommodate them as a result of the questionable behaviours.

He revealed that authentic reports reached him that Asare takes money from the players in a form of contribution for Asare's Pastor to offer prayers for the team.

"I think taking money from the players we consider minors is not the best of behaviours, after all the players have different religious backgrounds and I think a Moslem player will not take it kindly giving out money to a Pastor rather than a Mallam," he stated.

Nana, who was not in Togo with the team, indicated that Sewornu demonstrated gross indiscipline before CAF officials using abusive and vulgar language when the team was receiving their bronze medal.

"The 28-member Starlets team received 25 medals, an indication that three officials will return home with no medals and when Sewornu realized he was a 'victim' he went haywire, washing the country's dirty linen before the CAF officials," he noted.

Nana indicated their dismissal was a culmination of questionable acts and not that the FA bear them a grudge.
