Former Western Regional Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ishmael Evonlah Kwame Whajah, has declared his intention to contest the party's parliamentary primaries in the Jomoro Constituency ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He paid the GH¢5,000 declaration fee on Monday, in compliance with the party's directive for prospective parliamentary candidates to declare their intentions between 1st and 10th November 2026.
In a statement copied to the media, Evonla Whajah said his decision followed extensive consultations and numerous calls from party faithful in the Soshe-Anyie enclave and Nzema communities to represent the constituency in Parliament.
"I have heard your numerous calls from the Soshe-Anyie communities enclave and Nzema communities. I have received your encouragement and undertaken extensive consultations regarding the call to step forward," he said.
He said he was humbled by the confidence reposed in him by the rank and file of the party and the good people of Jomoro.
He also said he would participate in the NPP's parliamentary selection process and, by the grace of God and with the support of constituents, seek to represent the party and the constituency in Parliament.
"I hereby humbly declare my intention to participate in the NPP parliamentary selection process in the Jomoro Constituency for the 2028 elections and, by the grace of the Almighty and with your support, seek to represent our constituency and our great party in Parliament," he added.
