A two-year-old girl has been rescued after she was allegedly abandoned in a bush along the Kadawene–Mbradan road in the Dunkwa-On-Offin area of the Central Region, leading to the arrest of her mother and father.

The toddler was reportedly discovered by residents on Sunday, November 1, 2026, who found her lying in the bush and immediately took steps to rescue her.

According to information gathered by Dunkwa TV, the child's mother has admitted leaving her in the bush around midnight on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

In an explanation reportedly given to authorities, the mother said she abandoned the toddler because her husband was unwilling to take responsibility for the child, while she had no source of income to provide for her needs.

The woman, said to be a native of Kadawene, a community near Mbradan, has since been arrested alongside the child's father over the incident.

Both parents are reportedly in police custody as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged abandonment continue.

Following her rescue, the two-year-old was rushed to the Dunkwa Government Hospital, where she is receiving medical attention. She is said to be in stable condition.
