Bofoakwa defeat Olympics

Sunyani, (B/A) March 22, GNA - Tano Boafoakwa on Wednesday defeated Accra Great Olympics 1-0 in the Mid-week Onetouch Premier League match at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Akwasi Boateng snatched the lone goal in the 55th minute through a goal-mouth melee after both clubs had wasted numerous chances that came their way in the first half.

Playing before an expectant home crowd, the visitors piled pressure on the Bofoakwa defence in search of the equalizer but could not go through as Ebenzer Tettey, Paul Donkor and Amadu Adams combine effectively to hold Emmanuel Clottey Francis Martey and Tanko Mohammed of Olympics at bay.

Earlier with their confidence boosted as they minutes ticked by, Boafoakwa's David Sarkodie had the opportunity to put his side ahead in the 44th minute when they were awarded a penalty but Referee Listowel Zivelu from Akatsi but the Olympics keeper parried the goal bound shot out of danger.

With well combined passes by Emmanuel Clottey and Tanko Mohammed, the visitors put up intensive pressure on the homesters in the dying minutes of the match but their strikers squandered the opportunities that came their way as they shot wide and wayward. 22 March 07
