Muslims in Kumasi pray for the nation

Kumasi Jan 6, GNA - Sheikh Issaka Martey, National Chairman and Sheikh Amen Bonsu, Deputy National Imam both of the Ghana Muslim Mission on Friday led Muslims of the Mission to read extracts from the Holy Qu'ran and prayed for the nation to mark the launch of the National Day of Muslim prayers for the Golden jubilee celebration of the nation in Kumasi.

Among the group were Alhaji Muhammad Kyereapem, Ashanti Regional Protocol of the Mission, Alhaji Musah Kofi Nuamah, Secretary, and Alhaji Ibrahim Baryeh, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Mission.

Sheikh Amen Bonsu, who later led the Muslims to offer prayers at the Mission's Mosque at Ampabame, a suburb of Kumasi thanked the Almighty God for the 50 years after Independence and all the successes the nation had chalked throughout the years,

He prayed for the Government, Members of Parliament, Ministers of State, Traditional Rulers, children and all Ghanaians and asked that God Omnipotent would continue to shower his blessings on everybody in the country in the years ahead, Sheikh Bonsu also prayed that God would change people with evil minds and hardened hearts so that negative attitudes such as armed robbery, bribery and corruption, fornication, adultery, drug trafficking, laziness and other anti social lives would give way to hard work, patriotism, peace, love for one another and unity at all levels in the country.

The Deputy national Imam stressed the need for Muslims and all Ghanaians to be imbued with the spirit to protect the nation's democracy as well as the Constitution. He prayed that God would unite ex-President John Jerry Rawlings and President Kufuor as the nation celebrates Ghana's 50 years of independence.

Sheikh Bonsu asked that people take good care of their health by embarking on balanced diets and exercising the body regularly and reminded them to take advantage of the national Insurance health Scheme to improve on their health.
