A Voice For African Owned Businesses In The UK

The Association for African Owned Businesses (UK) (AAOE) has launched a bi-monthly magazine entitled The Ambassador. Zimbabwean born Washington Kapapiro makes history as the Association’s first President and Ghanaian born Lyssiemay Annoh has been appointed as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief for the Magazine.

The Ambassador is a magazine primarily for members of the AAOE, but it is also aimed at helping businesses - small and large, owner-managers and self-employed people, especially those of ethnic minority background, to help them run a more profitable venture.

AAOE President, Washington Kapapiro says:

Our vision is that we can create camaraderie amongst member organizations. We want to create a network within the member organizations that can expand its reach to all sectors across all verticals. From history, we have seen that the most successful societies have been good communicators. If we can provide a platform for member organizations to network with counterparts we will have succeeded.

For too long the African businessman has long believed in making wealth for self and family. We have since looked at business models from other successful societies and we have noticed that, although one must take care of one’s interests, helping thy neighbour can also have profitable results.

The Ambassador aims to raise the productivity and profitability of small businesses by offering a range of topics in each issue, including:

· News up-dates for small businesses; · Practical articles on running and managing a profitable business; · Case studies of people with relevant learning experiences and hindsight they can pass on to our readers; · Relevant technology news, including some product reviews and new products/services; · Money-saving tips and useful contact to increase readers' chances of success.

Editor-in-Chief, Lyssiemay Annoh says:

I am thrilled to be associated with The Ambassador. Readers can be assured that the publication will cut through false assumptions and politically correct posturing to examine business and management issues facing African Owned Enterprises and the rest of the business world. The Ambassador’s editorial commitment is to thinking and asking the unthinkable. Our aim is to enable those aspiring to get there faster and give due confidence to those who dither.
