Twifo Praso To Host Investment Fair

Twifu Praso (Central Region), 31 Oct.,

A five-day district trade and investment fair will take off at Twifo Praso in the Central Region from November 10 -15. The theme of the fair which is being organised as a prelude to the Central Regional trade and investment fair dubbed ''Central Expo 1998'' scheduled to take place at Cape Coast next year, is ''Towards sustainable accelerated development of the Central Region''. It is being organised by Twifu Hemang Lower Denkyira District Assembly in collaboration with the Central Regional Consultative Council and the Central Regional Development Commission. Briefing members of the organising committee at Praso yesterday, Mr. Joseph Akwasi-Kumah, the Central Expo '98 fair co-ordinator said the event, the fourth to be organised in the region is meant to unearth investment potentials in the districts. Mr. Akwasi-Kumah said the fairs so far organised by three districts, Komenda-Edina-Egyafo-Abirem, Gomoa and Awutu-Effutu-Senya have proved highly successful. He appealed to the members of the organising committee to put in their maximum effort to tap all hidden potentials in the district. The District Chief Executive, Mr. M.K. Amponsah said the area is endowed with many resources but said what is hindering their development is the lack of electricity. Mr. Amponsah gave the assurance that when power is extended to the district next year, the area will be transformed.
