Political Science Lecturer with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and known sympathizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Richard Amoako has confessed bribing electorates to vote for the party’s presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2016 presidential race.

“There was a guy who was running to become Member of Parliament (MP) in the Central Region and a school teacher; I don’t know for whatever reason, it looked like he had been abandoned by the party and he called me one week before the election that he needs help in a form of cutlasses to give it to farmers there to vote for him. I had to pay One Thousand Ghana Cedis and bought a box of cutlasses I took it to him to give to the people”, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah revealed.

‘In Ghana we think campaigning is just a matter of talking. You need a chairman who is proactive to make sure certain constituencies that do not have resources have been resourced”, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah claimed explaining why he would be contesting for the party’s national chairmanship position.

“Nana Addo says the battle is the Lord’s and six months after winning and you fighting so knows ….. Who are you fighting NDC or who?. You snatch something from the devil and you think that is the end of it”.

“The way and manner things are going, I never saw we will be doing such a thing in government”, blaming the acting chairman of the party, Mr. Freddy Blay for several incidents such as Delta Force protesting against President Akufo-Addo’s nominees as well as other unfortunate incidents recorded across the country.

“When I heard Delta Force and all this rancor what came to my mind is where is the chairman? You don’t expect President to manage this. The President focus is on the government especially it was an appointment time and you are expecting him to look at the party too, he cannot. …where was the chairman then”, Dr. Richard Amoako queried on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM’s morning show.

However, the political science lecturer said Mr. Freddy Blay together with other regional chairmen should be blamed.

Dr. Richard Amoako Baah explained his decision to contest Mr Freddy Blay and other persons who may may be interested in leading the party.
