Dozens feared dead in car crash on Kumasi-Accra road

Many passengers are feared dead in a ghastly car crash that occurred around 6 pm, Sunday, near Asankare on the Kumasi-Accra road.

A commuter, who chanced upon the bloody accident told Starr FM that he could count dozens of what appeared to be lifeless bodies being packed into the bucket of a pickup truck.

Three cars were involved in the accident – a pickup, a Sprinter bus and a glo branded vehicle.

The Kumasi Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, which confirmed the accident to StarrFMonline.com says all the passengers in the Sprinter bus are feared dead.

Also, Konongo Divisional Police Commander, DSP Alex Amenyo has told StarrFMonline.com that many of the passengers are dead. He, however, could not readily give the number of casualties.

It is not clear how the accident happened, but reports from the scene say it has caused a gridlock.

Police and Fire personnel are currently there dealing with the traffic situation and also clearing the mangled vehicles and the bodies from the road.
