Chief appeals for rehabilitation of Nsawam-Aburi road

Pokrom-Nsaba (E/R), Oct. 27, GNA - Odeneho Nana Toah Djan II, Chief of Pokrom-Nsaba in the Akuapem South District, has appealed to the Urban Roads Department and the District Assembly to rehabilitate the road from Nsawam to Aburi to make it to enable farmers cart their goods to marketing centres. The chief, who was addressing a durbar to mark the Odwira festival at the weekend at Pokrom also expressed concern about lack of market for pineapple farmers in the area. Nana Toah Djan also noted that HIV/AIDS awareness programme in the area was not enough and called on the authorities to put provide adequate funds for education against the disease.
Mr Seth Dankwa Wiafe, Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, said the Eastern Regional Tender Board had approved the contract for the Nsawam-Aburi road and that the project would soon be awarded to a contractor. He said 260 million cedis had so far been disbursed to women farmers and advised the youth to unite and harness their resources to initiate development project in their area.
