Historian Anokye Frimpong has weighed in on the ongoing debate around the Golden Stool, which the Paramount Chief of Dormaa, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, has ignited.
According to the Dormaahene, historical claims that the Golden Stool was conjured from the sky must be disregarded because they are myths, as in his opinion, nobody could conjure a Golden Stool from the sky.
Speaking during the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region recently, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, stated, "If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, I'm saying it is a lie."
"Didn't you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded- didn't you see?"

However, popular historian Anokye Frimpong has waded into the debate, saying the Golden Stool, which has been at the centre of Dormaahene's controversy, was indeed conjured, and no historical fact has disputed this.
Speaking to Agyenkwa FM on this subject matter, Anokye Frimpong explained that Nana Dormaahene's forbears instead moulded a Golden Stool which was seized by the Ashantis and melted.
He stated that a great-grandfather of the current Dormaa manhene, Nana Kofi Adu, manufactured an artificial Golden Stool that bore a resemblance to the original one used by the Ashantis. However, the Ashantis conquered Nana Adu Kofi and his people, taking custody of it.
He mentioned that "Under Opoku I, the Asantes went to war against the people of Dormaa, who were led by Nana Kofi Adu. The Ashantis defeated them and took away their Golden Stool."
He added, "Because Konfo Anokyi has warned that there must be only one Golden Stool and that if anyone found one, the Ashantis should go to war and conquer it, the Ashantis defeated Dormaa and took hostage of their Golden Stool, melted it, and it became the first Golden Stool melted by the Ashantis in history."
According to Anokye Frimpong, another great-grandfather of the current Dormaahene, Nana Kwadwo Adinkra Karikari, also manufactured a Golden Stool during the reign of Nana Osei Bonsu as the Asantehene.
He explained that the Golden Stool manufactured by Nana Kwadwo Adinkra Karkari, who was the chief of Jaman, became the second one the Ashantis seized through war and destroyed.

He concluded that all the welded Golden Stools in Ghana's history were made and used by the forbears of the current Dormaahene, but not the Ashantis.
The Golden Stool, believed to have been conjured by Konfo Anokye centuries ago, remains a sacred symbol of the Ashanti Kingdom.
