"Doom wishers will be disappointed" - Mahama

Doom wishers of the government will "soon be disappointed" as the ailing economy will soon bounce back to an “age of prosperity,” President John Mahama has said.

According to Mahama, the government has kept its eyes on the ball in spite of the trying economic conditions.

“We went through economic challenges but development hasn’t stopped, we are building schools, hospitals, roads, markets and many others," the president told a gathering when he visited the Tamale Market as part of his two-day working tour of the Northern region.

Mahama added: "For those who think these challenges will continue, well, they will soon be disappointed because the economy will turn around and Ghana will enter an age of prosperity.”

The Ghanaian economy has been challenged in recent times facing a massive depreciation against the major trading currencies, especially the US Dollar.

Inflation currently stands at 15%.

The young oil-producing country is currently at the International Monetary Fund for a bailout to salvage its economy.
