Don’t panic – Akufo-Addo tells Ghanaians

Nana Akufo-Addo - Opposition Leader Nana Akufo-Addo - Opposition Leader

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, 2016 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has encouraged Ghanaians in the United Kingdom (UK) not to panic over Ghana’s current depressing situation, promising to save the country from its quandary in 2017 as president.

Without mincing words, the astute politician attributed Ghana’s myriad problems to visionless leadership, mismanagement and widespread corruption, which he noted, are characteristics of the President John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

He stated that the NDC had collapsed the economy and brought untold hardship on Ghanaians back home, assuring that the NPP would campaign as a united political party to wrestle power from the NDC in 2016 to implement better policies to restore Ghana to the path of prosperity.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly called Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, who is with Nana Akufo-Addo in the UK, told DAILY GUIDE that the NPP presidential candidate gave the assurance during the opening of the Manchester branch of the NPP on Sunday.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo openly lamented how President Mahama’s administration is rapidly destroying the country, thereby putting the lives and the future of Ghanaians in danger.

Nana Akufo-Addo, he said, promised that an NPP administration would work to restore hope to the ordinary Ghanaian and also fix the unstable cedi.

Nana Akufo-Addo observed that corruption is the major bane which had prevented Ghana from developing, stating categorically that his presidency would not give room for government appointees to milk the state at the expense of the masses.

The NPP flagbearer also expressed grave concern about the current voter register, which he claimed is bloated and full of inconsistencies, vowing that the NPP would mount intense pressure on the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure that the voter register is replaced with a credible one.

Chairman Wontumi stressed that the NPP would intensify the heat on the EC to change the bloated and inconsistent voter register immediately the party’s flagbearer arrives in Ghana.

He said an inconsistent voter register is a recipe for chaos.
