The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) begun investigating the Audit Service following a petition it received from a political pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) on allegations of procurement breaches.

In a letter written to the investigative body by the Auditor-General, Mr Domelevo indicated that EOCO had no legal mandate to probe him, a position he is currently seeking redress in court.

Meanwhile, this issue has turned into a political match between the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NDC at a press conference accused the government of scheming to remove Mr. Daniel Domelovo from Office as Auditor-General because he is exposing the rot in the government.

The NPP in response at a press conference led by the Director of Communications of the NPP, Yaw Buaben Asamoa said: “It is the height of irresponsibility for the NDC to seek to undermine the constitutional office and mandate of the Auditor General by bringing in their usual NDC-NPP politics. They have consistently succeeded in undermining national institutions and national agenda with their NDC-NPP agenda.”

On Wednesday's edition of Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', the Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper reacted to the issue.

"I don't think I have the locus stand to try and advise him but as a citizen and an analyst, in the process I have tried to tell him to stay focus and not to create the impression that he is not an Auditor-General but an Agitator-General," he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.
