The Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFDO) will on Friday 23rd November visit the construction site of the Adentan overhead bridge to have discussions with the project engineer.

The move is aimed at ensuring that the bridge is disability friendly to enable persons with disabilities access it.

Mr Yaw Ofori Debrah, President of the GFDO, said this at a Disability Network Meeting, a meeting where various stakeholders in the disability fraternity meet to share information and discuss advocacy programmes and plans.

The disability law stipulates among others the need to make accessible all public buildings and infrastructure to give access to person with disabilities.

Mr Debrah said the Federation wants to ensure that people adhere to the law and noted that the organization will intensify its advocacy to ensure that Ghana becomes disability compliant.

The National Disability Network is a platform that brings together all organizations working in the field of disability to share information and discuss global issues on disability.

The meeting held with the support of the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) also discussed advocacy strategies towards total inclusion and effective participation of persons with disabilities in the Ghanaian society.
