Dagbon chieftaincy: Otumfuo reinforces ban on enskinment

Chairman of the three Eminent Kings Mediation Committee handling the Dagbon chieftaincy matters, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has reinforced the ban on fresh enskinment in the Dagbon Traditional Area.

Otumfuo's action is in reaction to the enskinment of a new Chief for Pigu on Saturday 14 December, 2018 by the Boling-Lana Mahamadu Abdulai.

The Mediation Committee and government were outraged by the enskinment of the Pigu Lana, hence the reinforcement.

Both the Kampakuya-Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani and the Boling-Lana Mahamadu Abdulai are banned from enskinning new chiefs for vacant skins.

Following the latest developments, a high powered delegation from government and the Mediation Committee visited Yendi, Sunday 16.

The Ministers for National Security and Chieftaincy and Religious

Affairs, Albert Kan Dapaah and Kofi Dzamesi and three persons from the Manhyia Palace were part of the delegation to Yendi.

Chairman of the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC), Salifu Sae-ed led the delegation to meet the Kampakuya-Naa and the Boling-Lana.

Salifu Sae-ed in an exclusive interview said the two Regents were reminded to comply with the dictates of the final roadmap to peace restoration in Dagbon.

He said government and the Mediation Committee would not hesitate to sanction anybody or groupings that might breach the dictates of the final roadmap.

Salifu Sae-ed asked the law enforcement agencies there to be extra vigilant and deal with lawbreakers.

Abudus install Regent

The Boling-Lana Mahamadu Abdulai was on Friday December 14 installed as the new Regent of Dagbon.

The installation was in line with activities lined up for the performance of the funeral of the Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.

People from all walks of life including Ministers of State, Chief Executive Officers of State agencies, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, Chiefs, the Clergy, family relations and well-wishers witnessed the occasion.

Old Gbewaa Palace reconstruction

Government officially handed over the Old Gbewaa Palace to the Abudu Royals to perform the funeral of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.

After signing an undertaken on Thursday, the Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sae-ed gave the keys to the Abudus Head, Mba Dugu Iddrisu Iddi at the forecourt of the newly constructed structures.

They have two weeks to perform the funeral and subsequently the Andani family are also expected to perform that of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II from January 4 to 18, 2019.

The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) continues to reinforce security visibility there.

Bolinglana

The Boling-Lana Mahamadu Abdulai is the first surviving son of late Yaa- Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.

He was born in 1974 when his father was facing political and uncustomary machinations from his detractors.

He became the Boling-Lana at the age of 14, a day after Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV was laid to rest at the Katini duu.

The Boling-Lana-Lana Abdulai Mahamadu was in SDA Primary School in Tamale when his father died.

He has since been the Regent of his later father for 30 years now.

The Bolin-Lana Abdulai Mahammadu has four wives and twelve children.
