Electorate urged to vote massively for female contestants

Nkawie (Ash), June 20, GNA - A housewife at Nkawie in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of Ashanti, has urged the electorate to vote massively for female contestants in the upcoming legislative polls to elect district assembly members.

Madam Afua Frimpomaa said the exclusion of women from the district assemblies would be a big disincentive to the entrenchment of local governance since women had the natural abilities to establish a democratic system at the grassroots.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Nkawie at the weekend Madam Frimpomaa conversely advised womenfolk to feel confident and not shy away from contesting the elections to enable them contribute their quota to the decision making process at the local level.

Madam Frimpomaa further advised women to support their spouses to invest in their children's education instead of spending lavishly on funerals and bleaching creams to help guarantee the future of their children.

She also urged women to be submissive to their partners to ensure a happy marital life and not to consult mediums and false prophets who only disintegrated their homes instead of improving family life. 20 June 06
