The Cyber Security Authority (CSA), in collaboration with the Africa Center for Digital Transformation (ACDT), has officially launched the National Community Media Cyber Capacity Building Project, an initiative aimed at strengthening Ghana's cyber resilience by enhancing the capacity of community media practitioners.

The project, which is supported by the Government of the Czech Republic through its Transformation Cooperation Programme, seeks to equip journalists and community media professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to report accurately and responsibly on cybersecurity, cybercrime, online safety, emerging digital threats, and digital risk communication.

Speaking at the launch, Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority, Divine Selase Agbeti, described the initiative as a major milestone in Ghana's efforts to build a secure and resilient digital ecosystem. He stressed that empowering community media practitioners with cybersecurity knowledge would improve public awareness and strengthen the country's ability to respond to evolving cyber threats.

According to him, the programme also provides a platform for strengthening collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, the media, academia, civil society organisations, development partners, and local communities in safeguarding Ghana's digital space.

Agbeti noted that building a cyber-resilient nation requires a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, adding that the media remains an indispensable partner in promoting digital safety and responsible information dissemination.



The event was attended by the Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, who represented the sector minister and reaffirmed government's commitment to advancing Ghana's digital transformation agenda.

Also present were the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ghana, H.E. Pavel Bílek, officials of the Africa Center for Digital Transformation (ACDT), representatives of the National Counter Terrorism Fusion Centre, the Ghana Journalists Association, security and intelligence agencies, members of the diplomatic community, academia, civil society organisations, media leaders, development partners, and community media practitioners.



The National Community Media Cyber Capacity Building Project is expected to improve cybersecurity reporting standards while promoting greater public awareness of digital safety, cybercrime prevention, and responsible online behaviour across communities.

The Cyber Security Authority believes the initiative will contribute significantly to building a cyber-informed media landscape and advancing Ghana's vision of becoming a cyber-resilient nation.
