Govt will not pay for badly done road works - MP

Fufuo (Ash), Oct. 27, GNA - Mr. James Adusei Sarkodie, Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima-Nwabiagya, has stated that the government will insist on value for money in the road sector and will not pay for shoddy roadwork by contractors.

He said the days when huge sums of money went down the drain through poor roads construction were over.

Mr Sarkodie's statement came in the wake of raging confusion and apprehension among the people of Fufuo in the Atwima District about what they perceive to be shoddy work done by the contractors working on the Barekese-Fufuo road.

He called for calm and restraint among the people, saying that the technical consultants and the contractors had assured him that the actual works on the road was yet to start.

"The project would be closely monitored and supervised to ensure that the right things are done".

Mr Sarkodie also inspected a number of road projects some of which are on going and the others just awarded on contract to help facilitate free movement of people and goods in the constituency.
