First Vice Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress, Anita De Sosoo, says attacks on her person by a deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, shows how desperate he is for ministerial appointment.

To her, Obiri Boahen’s call for her arrest is to get the attention of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to shortlist him for ministerial appointment.

She said her popularity alone was good enough for the NPP deputy General Secretary to capitalise on to make noise for recognition in the current administration.

Obiri Boahen addressing a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Wednesday urged the Police to also arrest Anita De Sosoo for questioning at they embark on arresting hoodlums in their post-election operations.

De Sosoo, he said, run into a group of NPP followers with her vehicle at Atiwa and in the process injured tens of their party followers.

The Police, Nana Boahen added, only take action against known NPP members when issues of attack on NDC followers comes up but treats the akatamansonians with kid gloves on same.

But De Sosoo in an interview with Kasoa-based Pink FM on Thursday said her political opponent is a smart man who wants to ride on her shoulders for appointment.

Nevertheless, she said her doors are always opened to welcome Obiri Boahen and lobby for him if he so desires for appointment in Nana Akufo-Addo’s government.

But her offer comes with a condition. She noted that she will only offer the deputy NPP Scribe any assistance he needs if only he “stops making noise”.

“He wants appointment and if he doesn’t use my name, he will not be recognised. But if he really wants to be appointment by the President he should come and see me for me to lobby for him,” she stressed.
