The Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Justice Srem Sai, has confirmed an earlier report by GhanaWeb on the crimes the leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, is being investigated for.

In a post shared on social media on Friday, September 5, 2025, Justice Srem Sai said that Kofi Akpaloo is currently being investigated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for a number of crimes.

He said that some of the crimes the presidential candidate for the 2024 Election has been accused of include causing financial loss to the state and fraud.

“Suspect PERCIVAL KOFI AKPALOO is under investigation on allegations of various financial crimes including fraud, causing financial loss to the State, dissipation of public funds, and money laundering,” the Deputy AG wrote.

He further stated that Kofi Akpaloo is still in the custody of the security officials because he has not been able to meet his bail conditions.

“EOCO officials arrested him on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. He has, however, been granted police bail with the following conditions – GH¢10 million bond with 2 sureties to be justified.

“The suspect remains in the custody of EOCO pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions,” the post concludes.
