CID Boss storms Northern Region to push IGP’s transformation agenda

Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has paid three days maiden working visit to the Northern Region as part of the transformation agenda of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. David Asante Appeatu.

The CID Boss accompanied by the Director of Operations CID Headquarters ACP Mr. Eklu Gyamerah, Director of Legal and Prosecutions, CID Headquarters, Supt. Elizabeth Viney and Enyonam Gawu.

DCOP Addo-Danquah met Special Police Officers and detectives within the Tamale Metropolis and its environs under the auspices the Northern Regional Command. She took note of the many concerns of the officers, promising to relay it to the appropriate quarters for action under the Transformational leadership of the IGP, Mr Asante Appeatu.

According to the deputy, Regional Commander ACP Mr. Felix Fosu-Agyeman in his address to welcome the Director-General and her entourage, the Northern Regional police command is battling with numerous criminal activities, notable among them being highway robberies, Vigilantism Communal violence, Murder and Defilement.

He also briefed the Director-General and outlined the preventive measures that have been put in place to bring progress in the fight against crime.

The Regional Crime Officer Supt. Mr. Kusi Appiah added that while criminal activities were actually on the rise generally, with the inception of operation calm life under the IGP’s plan to control crime, the region has seen a reduction in criminal activities.

The regional command beseeched the IGP through the CID Director-General to post more SPO, Inspectors and other ranks to augment the detectives’ strength of the Region since most district lack crime officers and detectives.

He further appealed for logistical support to enable the Region to work effectively for crime prevention and detection.

CID Boss promises more training

The Director-General DCOP Addo-Danquah in her address to the officers at the meeting said her administration plans to give training to all detectives in the country to enable them to perform better, revealing that training is ongoing and Northern Region will not be left out.

She also warned all detectives to take good care of their clients and that client care is dearest to her heart and that detectives must build a good relationship with their clients always.

She also urged detectives to keep proper records of criminals who are put before the Courts and forward.

She took the officers through an open forum and a question and answer session, noting some their concerns with the promise of working on them when she gets back to Accra.
