JSS student sentenced for defilement

The Nsawam circuit court has sentenced Ebenezer Addy, a 15-year-old student of the Tieku Junior Secondary School at Djankrom to a three-year prison term with hard labour at the Borstal institute, Accra.

He pleaded guilty for defiling a five-year-old child. Prosecuting, Chief Police Inspector Joyce Adama told the court, presided over by Mr. S.S. Appiah, that on November 27, last year, Addy who stays in the same house with the victim’s parents took advantage of their absence and drag the child to the back of an old building and had sexual intercourse with her and warned her not to tell anybody.

Inspector Adama said, the next day the parents detected that the girl was not well and was sent to the Nsawam Government Hospital where it was proved that the child had been defiled. The matter was reported to the police and after investigations Addy was arrested and upon interrogation he admitted defiling the child.
