Boycott NPP programmes for your safety - Kofi Adams

The 2016 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has been fingered by the National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams as the focal point of the numerous controversies bedevilling the opposition party.

According to him, the genesis of the crisis in the NPP started when the Northern Regional Chairman of NPP, Daniel Bugri Naabu alleged that Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong are not on good terms with Nana Addo.

He again alluded to comments allegedly passed by the NPP's Northern Regional Chairman at a meeting in Nana Akufo-Addo's house that they will run the party’s campaign without the duo; saying those remarks led to the recent emergency steering committee meeting without the consent and presence of Mr Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, he pointed out that the day Nana Addo sat in a meeting and took a decision on behalf of the party to counter an already taken decision involving Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong started the confusion in the party.

“So the main person they have to talk to is their flagbearer because he has a key responsibility to unite the party but he takes sides and generates this kind of situation without addressing it; this is what will be happening in the party. Until they tell the flagbearer the truth to fix the division, they will continue to have this problem; the problem is the flagbearer,” he alleged.

He however feared that ripples of the unfortunate incident which occurred in the Upper East will trickle down to the other Northern regions; and urged the NPP to sit up and address its grievances as soon as possible before it escalates.

He also cautioned Ghanaians to be careful when attending events being organized by the NPP since it is unclear which faction in the party will be planning the next acid attack.

“Until we see a commitment from the leadership that they have stopped this kind of behavior, people should boycott their programmes,” he cautioned.
