Lloyd Owusu out of world cup race

Brentford striker Lloyd Owusu has been ruled out of action for up to two months after suffering a torn groin muscle.

The injury has ruled him out of the final games of the League One season and has also shattered his hopes of playing in this summer's World Cup with Ghana.

Owusu recently received his first call-up from Ghana coach Ratomir Dujkovic, but he picked up the injury during the country's friendly with Stuttgart in Germany on Wednesday to dash his hopes of returning for this summer's tournament.

Bees boss Martin Allen told the club's official website: "Lloyd played yesterday for Ghana and was taken off injured with a torn groin muscle.

"This will now keep him out for between six to eight weeks and he will not be available for our remaining games and also the World Cup."
