Minister of Communication presents computer to school

Denase (Ash), Oct 17, GNA- Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah, Minister of Communication and Technology, on Thursday presented a computer and accessories to the Denase Local Authority Basic School in the Afigya-Sekyere District.

The presentation formed part of his tour of the Afigya-Sekyere West constituency for which he is the Member of Parliament to interact with the people and explain government's policies to them.

He called for collaboration between parents and teachers to enhance a peaceful teaching and learning atmosphere in the school.

Mr Kan-Dapaah said 99 students are benefiting from scholarships he had instituted for brilliant but needy pupils in the constituency. He said for 2002, 36 students at the Tetrem Secondary School benefited from the scheme while for 2003, 63 students in secondary schools and other second-cycle institutions from the constituency benefited.

The Minister enumerated projects he had executed in the various communities and said they ranged from electrification, health, education and roads to environmental sanitation.

Mr Kan-Dapaah asked cocoa farmers in the area to take advantage of efforts by the government to boost production through the mass spraying exercise and the 'high-tech' fertilizer to increase their yields to enable the country maintain its position as the second highest cocoa producer in the world.

Nana Baafuo-Twenefo, Queenmother of Denase who received the computer on behalf of the school, expressed appreciation to the Minister and appealed to the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to erect speed ramps in the town to minimise the spate of accidents.
