Assembly members urged to avoid foul language

Suhum(E/R), May 10, GNA- The district chief executive for Suhum/Kraboa/Coaltar, Mr Stephen Frimpong-Manson, has urged assembly members to eschew the use of foul language during election campaigns and strive to maintain their unity in diversity.

Mr Frimpong-Manson who was opening the fifth ordinary session of the district assembly at Suhum on Tuesday, asked the members to educate their electorates to check their names in the reopened voters register and also help delete names of deceased persons.

He said they should encourage youths, who have attained voting age, to register. On the community-initiated projects, he said the assembly provided 50 packets of roofing sheets and 300 bags of cement to 11 communities to complete their school projects last year.

Mr Frimpong-Manson said the assembly has drawn up a development programme estimated at over a billion cedis for this year in which local government, education and village improvement projects are given priority.

He said the assembly is expected to receive 1.18 billion cedis as its share of the common fund this year and urged the members to help raise more local revenue to support development projects
