The Asogli State Council, led by the Agbogbomefia Togbe Afede XIV, has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of eight prominent Ghanaians in Wednesday’s tragic military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

The fatal accident, which occurred on August 6, 2025, claimed the lives of two cabinet ministers, Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, along with Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Dr Samuel Sarpong, Mr Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Befemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Flight Sergeant Ernest Addo.

In a statement released on Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Council extended its “heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies” to President John Dramani Mahama, the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the bereaved families.

“These eight souls, who met their untimely death in the course of national service, embodied dedication, courage, and a profound sense of duty to our country. The Asogli State salutes their service and honours their sacrifice with gratitude and reverence,” the communique read.
