Earl International Group has released exclusive CCTV footage showing armed men allegedly linked to Nanlamtaaba Enterprise storming the company’s underground working areas before seizing 13 private security guards who had been deployed to perform their lawful duties.

The footage, released alongside a public statement by the company, is intended to provide visual evidence of the incident that occurred on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Shaft 2, Level 2, of Earl Group’s underground mining operations.

According to management, a team of underground welders and 16 security guards from Reliable Protection Services had been assigned to the area to facilitate repair works and provide security for the workers.

The welders were tasked with repairing and reassembling equipment and barricades that had reportedly been damaged by unidentified intruders, while the security guards were deployed to ensure the safety of the working team and enable the work to proceed without disruption.

However, the company said that dozens of men wielding offensive weapons subsequently stormed the underground working area and obstructed the ongoing activities.

Management further said that the armed men rounded up and assaulted the unarmed security guards before seizing 13 of them and forcibly taking them to the surface through an illicit mining pit.

Guards allegedly held hostage and brutalised

Earl International Group stated that the 13 guards were subsequently held hostage and subjected to further brutal treatment at a house identified by the company as belonging to Zongdaan Boyak Kolog, popularly known as Poloo, who operates Nanlamtaaba Enterprise.

According to the statement, reports received during the incident indicated that the guards faced a potentially life-threatening situation, as they were allegedly surrounded by a large crowd and subjected to continued torture.

The company said a report was made to the police, prompting the deployment of a joint police and military team to rescue the victims.

However, management indicated that by the time the joint team arrived, the guards had reportedly been removed from the location to an unknown destination, heightening concerns about their safety.

Subsequent reports indicated that the 13 guards were being transported to the Regional Police Command in Bolgatanga.

Earl International Group further disclosed that, following the guards’ release on police inquiry bail for medical examination, management lodged a formal complaint of assault against operatives of Nanlamtaaba Enterprise.

Company rejects claims that guards were setting fire underground

A major aspect of Earl International Group’s statement is its emphatic rejection of reports suggesting that the 13 security guards were apprehended while attempting to set fire to unidentified facilities underground.

The company described the reports as entirely false, insisting that they do not reflect the actual sequence of events that led to the seizure, assault and subsequent handover of the guards to the police.

According to management, the guards were performing their assigned security duties in support of legitimate underground repair works when the armed men entered the working area, disrupted operations and forcibly took them away.

The company maintains that the released CCTV footage, together with evidence of injuries sustained by the guards, supports its account of the incident.

Earl calls for urgent state intervention

Beyond the October 8, 2026, incident, Earl International Group has expressed concern over what it describes as continued violent attacks against its workers in underground mining areas.
