Ghanaian Gospel Musician In France Takes It High

Although Okokroko is his debut, released in 2002, Fred Atterson is no longer stranger to the Ghana gospel music industry after releasing his recent album 'Ma Nya Biribi'.

Born in Ghana at Koforidua, to Madam Cecilia Mayo from Somanya Eastern Region and Opanin Kwaku Asaseasa from Womase Ashanti Region, Fred now resides in France with his wonderful wife Helena Owusu Atterson, and their four magnificent children, two girls and two boys.

'Ma Nya Biribi', which is a 10-track fabulous piece, has an awesome presentation, climaxed with remarkable technique and an excellent sound quality, really stands out to be one of a kind in the current Ghanaian gospel music industry.

On this album, Fred Atterson simply opens up his heart to God, letting his thoughts flow out, full of melodic grooves, good old locally blend of classics, concrete reggae with modern sound which leaves the anointing to carry out the task.

'Same Yare', (Heal Me) track 3 is an encouraging and a typical mid-tempo highlife tune telling believers to rely on God who can handle any problem including their sickness.

Perhaps the most impressive and intriguing song on the album is 'Nyame', which is a rewritten reggae tune 'One Love' by the late Bob Marley. This is intriguing because it takes on a sound that would be at every home in Ghana in the early '80's, and is impressive because Fred pulls it off with sheer grace and flair. The verse has him singing softly with the similar arrangements on the original "One Love" but this time with powerful lyrics. 'Nyame' is a feel-good number that is perfect for pondering over the sovereignty of the creator.

Fred's soaring soprano shines on his multi-dialect praise medley, track 5, 'Mede Mabisa 'dea Bi' which is a gratitude of a heart filled with joy and appreciation to the prayer answering God, deserves a multi-formatted airplay and worthy of repetition all-round.

Fred Atterson who now worship's at the Ascension Assemblies of God in France, when asked by GhanaToday.com about his mission after being part of the gospel music industry, he answered; "I'm now into this scene of gospel music to expand the kingdom of God on the planet Earth".
