No way for NDC in 2004 - NPP Chairman

Akropong Akwapem (Eastern Region) -- EASTERN Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Adi Ankamah, has made it clear that come what may the NDC will not win power in the 2004 general elections.

“NDC people should keep quiet and allow us to develop the nation after wasting their 20 years for nothing”, he stated.

According to him, the NDC flagbearer, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills had all the chances in the world to win the 2000 elections but he failed because of lack of vision.

Nana Adi Ankamah stated these at the first Eastern Regional NPP rally at Akropong in the Akwapem North District last week.

The NPP regional chairman referred to the latest NDC slogan “Sankofa” which literally means going backwards and said that there is nothing good in the past for Ghanaians to go for it.

“Forward ever, backward never and let me warn anybody who will try to derail the train from moving that he will not spared,” he warned.

The Minister of Finance, Mr. Osafo Maafo, assured Ghanaians that the NPP will pay off all debt created by the NDC and make the country financially and economically sound for the generation unborn to come and continue.

The minister again assured Ghanaians that the government will improve the cocoa and other farming activities to create employment avenues for the unemployed youth.

“There is only one party in the country which does not hold the truth from the people and that is the NPP” was the only challenge the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Nana Akufo Addo threw.

According to Mr. Kan Dapaah, Energy Minister, the NPP promised to bring about positive change in the country and it is fulfilling that promise.

He mentioned the declaration of this country HIPC and increases in fuel prices as clear manifestation of “positive change” in the country.

Kan Dapaah urged Ghanaians to rally behind the courageous President, Mr. J.A. Kufuor, to develop the nation.

Present at the rally were Minister for Communications and Technology, Mr. Felix Owusu Agyapong, national youth organiser, Mustapha Hamid, Deputy Women Organiser, Gifty Mensah, the Eastern Regional Minister and his deputy district chief executives (DCE and other party executives).
