The Electoral Commission says all is set for the Akwatia by-election scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Addressing the media at the collation center ahead of the exercise on Monday, September 1, 2025, the Eastern Regional Director, John Appiah Baffoe, stated that the Commission has taken delivery of all ballot papers and packaged them appropriately for distribution.

He noted that other electoral materials, including verification devices to be used by 484 electoral officers trained by the Commission, had been deployed to all 119 polling stations across the constituency.
“The Commission is ready. We’ve received all the materials needed for the election. The ballot papers are in, packaged, and ready. The BVDs, registers, and all other materials are also ready. We will begin distribution this evening to ensure voting starts at 7 a.m. tomorrow. As for our election officials, we have recruited 484 personnel,” he stated.
A total of 52,328 residents in the Akwatia constituency are expected to cast their ballots on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

The by-election will feature Solomon Asumadu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Baidoo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and an independent candidate, Owusu Patrick.
