Akufo-Addo's lifestyle is killing the NPP – Sampson Ahi

Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi, is urging followers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to critically re-examine the party and fix the challenges where necessary before the 2016 general elections.

In his view, there could be no other person to blame for the current chaos in the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition other than its flagbearer, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, urging party followers to call for an emergency congress to change the former Foreign Affairs Minister.

Akufo-Addo, he said in exclusive interview with Kasapafmonline.com, is the biggest problem in the party and the earlier the party followers substitute him with a unifier, the better.

“The NPP has only one obstacle to cross going into election 2016. That problem is not about the voters register. If you look at the way the party has disintegrated, even if you bring Jesus Christ to be the chairperson for the Electoral Commission and the country embarks on a new registration, they will lose the elections.

’So, I think the problem about the NPP is leadership, leadership, leadership. I think the NPP should go for a new congress to elect a new flagbearer. So far as Akufo-Addo is the flagbearer of NPP, they should forget the 2016 elections. His lifestyle is what is killing the NPP,” he noted.

He added, “When you are not part of Akufo-Addo’s team, he will kick you from behind and that will be your end. So long as Akufo-Addo continues to lead the NPP, they will continue to have problems. They will see Canaan but will never step their foot there.

Ahi, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bodi constituency in the Western Region further said he is not surprised about the aggressiveness of the elephant family, especially with regards to the voters register, noting that their actions clearly tell that they are a confused party.

“How can the country be doing a new voters register every four years? To us in the NDC, there is nothing wrong with the electoral album. You can clearly tell from the actions of the NPP that they are confused and that is why they have channeled all their energy into calling for a new voters register.”
