Akufo-Addo’s 'charade' truce call useless – Omane Boamah

Communications minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah has described as a "charade" the press conference addressed by the NPP’s flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo on developments in the party.

In his view, the truce call will have no meaningful impact on the fortunes of the party going into the 2016 elections.

The former attorney general in a speech at the party’s headquarters Friday called for a cease fire in the infighting that afflicted the elephant family in recent times.

The NPP is in a state of confusion as seven regional branches have called for the resignation of their national chairman Paul Afoko and general secretary Kwabena Agyepong following the killing of its Upper East regional chairman Adams Mahama.

Mr Mahama died after he was acid attacked by some unknown assailants.

The two national executives have also been accused of masterminding crime.

Commenting on the development on Radio Gold’s 'Alhaji and Alhaji' Saturday, the acting presidential spokesperson said the truce call was only a “charade” without any significance.

He said Nana Addo could have demonstrated his desire for peace by having the two beleaguered executives by his side during the speech.
